Making The World's
Best Sounding, Best Built Bowed Psalteries Since 1980
Now offering a broader line of accessories and
new, high quality musical instruments for the folk music lover, Unicorn Strings
consistently delivers more value for your money than any other folk instrument maker!
Unicorn Strings Music Company was founded in
1980 with one idea in mind - to make a beautiful sounding, high quality musical instrument
that was so easy to play anyone could do it.
Since our first bowed psaltery, we have revised our designs continually
to improve the quality of sound, craftsmanship and ease of play. We have been honored with
numerous awards and ribbons at juried art and craft shows throughout the country and been
seen on a variety of television shows, including BABYLON 5. In addition, our
instrument was featured in Better Homes and Gardens WOOD magazine and was
selected for the premier cover of Festival of American
HANDCRAFTS magazine. Throughout our history, we have maintained our
commitment to offering finely crafted musical instruments. We have chosen to specialize in
the bowed psaltery because of its ability to unlock the
music in everyone. |
Who We Are
We are a woodworker, a musician and three people who never
thought they'd be able to play a musical instrument. Our founders, Gene & Jessica
Jaeger and David Beede, had a desire to create a quality musical instrument they could
share with others. The developed our first bowed psaltery. Later, after David left to
pursue his music, John & Jan Hagerman met Gene & Jessica and fell in love with the
psaltery. They left behind other careers to become part of Unicorn Strings
and to bring the psaltery to more people. David has rejoined the company and together we
continue to pursue our love of music and our desire to bring music to others.
Our Guarantee
We take pride in our workmanship and stand behind our work.
If you ever have a problem with one of our instruments, contact us. We will repair
or replace any instrument with defective workmanship. Occasionally
heat, humidity or extreme dryness can cause a crack to develop in the instrument.
These cracks are natural part of any wood product and we cannot warrantee against
them. However, they rarely affect the quality of sound, tuning or durability and
most can be easily repaired. Please contact us if this happens to your
instrument.
